Thadeus Joseph Baranski, II

Thadeus Joseph Baranski, II aka Ted or TJ – A mentor to many and a friend to all died November 28, 2020 at Mclaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan from complications due to a car accident on 11/21/20.
Born February 20, 1944 in Hamtramck to Thadeus Baranski Sr. and Stephanie Chirkewich, Ted was the eldest of six siblings, all of whom have passed away. Ted was an outstanding and dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Karen Baranski (also injured in the accident) , children Joseph Baranski of Santa Cruz, CA, Terry Baranski of Benson, AZ and Michele Baranski of Pasadena, CA. He had three step-children Thomas Webber, April Webber and Marie Davila. He will be missed by his 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, many nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. He loved his family and would always make the time to travel to all special events.
Each year Ted visited his kids and their families. They would go camping, to the zoo, out for ice cream and his favorite Mexican food. He loved to take long road trips exploring the beautiful coasts of Michigan’s great lakes with Karen and their dog.
Ted made a mean breakfast and loved watching old war movies, westerns and history documentaries. He had a fondness for Teddy Bears. He mailed his Christmas cards early. A huge sports fan (Go Red Wings!), he played hockey well into his 50’s. Ted also played co-ed softball for many, many years with his niece Lisa Morency Young and his sons and brothers-in-law. Everyone who was lucky to know him will miss the laughter shared by his silly sense of humor. For everything in life he had a punchline.
Ted left high school early to join the marine corp with his best friend, Elmer. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He worked for Pac Bell as a linesman for many years while living in California. He was active in the union and would help to provide meals for those families in need during strikes. His friends would tell you that he was one of the good ones! A loyal friend who took pleasure in maintaining close connections.
Ted was a friend of Bill W for 31 years. His purpose was to serve the community that he felt served him in his time of need. An active member of his church, he led the Summer Bible Study program for the kids. He rang the bell for the Salvation Army each Christmas season, often standing in the snow to do so.
Ted was not one to let anything slow him down. His kids often joked that they could never get hold of him. It was a game of phone tag.
Ted will be interred with Military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. His family will host a celebration of life for him to be held in his hometown of Algonac, Michigan sometime in the spring when people are safe to gather once again. Please keep his wife, Karen and her family in your prayers while she continues the fight for her life.
