Barbara Glenne ( Willson) Goepper

It is with great sadness that our family announces the
passing of our mother
Barbara Glenne (Willson) Goepper
on April 5, 2020.
Barbara was born on March 4, 1931 in Chicago Illinois, the first child of Raymond and Lenora Glenne Willson. Barbara is survived by her 3 children Chris Goepper and wife Linda of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Craig Goepper and wife Jenny of Shelby Township, Michigan; and daughter Holly Raye of Maplewood, New Jersey. Barbara loved her 9 grandchildren Nick, Kasey, Bradee, Jason, Josh, Sam, Rachel, Mary and Leo. She is also survived by her brother Colonel Richard Willson of Vacaville, California.
Barbara graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1953 with a degree in Business Administration. She was one of only a few female graduates, and was voted Junior Prom Queen. She worked for Proctor & Gamble as her first job out of college, and married Robert Goepper in 1956. She had her 3 children before the family moved from Cincinnati to Detroit, Michigan in 1967. Barbara eventually went back into the work place as a respected store manager for Montgomery Ward. She retired after 25 years of loyal service.
Barbara was a 50 year resident of St. Clair Shores, Michigan. And she loved to read the Macomb Daily newspaper. Our Mom loved everything “musical”. Broadway shows, concerts, and especially dance. She couldn’t get enough of movies, old and new. Going out to lunch with her many long time friends from Charmaines Dance Studio, and endless shopping at Kohls. She had a great laugh. She loved yellow roses. Mom loved coffee with breakfast, lunch and dinner…and she LOVED Breyers Vanilla ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mom made her bed every morning as soon as she got up, and said the sun room was the best home improvement and investment she ever made.
A child of the “Great Depression”, she was a Loyal Republican and she would want us to tell you that.
In light of current circumstances there will be no memorial service at this time, however Barb wanted a party, and bagpipes. So lift a glass, share a fond memory, she is listening.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her name to:

Condolence Messages

  1. Chris, Craig, Holly
Wonderful summary of your mom’s life. Wish I had kept in touch better over the years. Can only remember vague memories about Barbara from the house in Saint Clair Shores but I do remember it being a fun place to visit and Aunt Barbie cooking a big breakfast with lots of bacon in the mornings

  2. Craig,
Best tribute I’ve seen. Your mom was a strong woman, active and lucid until the last year or so. Your care for her was selfless, and our hearts go out to you, Holly and Chris. Babs will be missed.
    Love,
    Tom & Sandie

  3. Barbara Sheridan

My heart goes out to you Holly, and to your entire family for the loss of your mother. It’s a blessing she is at peace. You now have an angel to watch over you forever. I was touched reading your mother’s unique and intimate obituary. I especially got a kick out of the fact that your mother enjoyed ice-cream not only at lunch and dinner, but for breakfast! So charming to read about your mother. I just might take a page out of Barbara’s book. From one Barbara to another, CHEERS! I can hear the bagpipes. Sending much love💜

  4. Lanette Milne (Failla)

She was a fabulous lady and she will be missed ! We are sad that we can’t “hug” everyone but we are sending out our love and prayers to all of you guys. A toast to you in Heaven Barb🥂
    Hugs from the Failla family

  5. Last time I saw your mom was at the services for your dad in Cincinnati. She was a wonderful aunt with a very bright spirit that will be missed. We are thinking about you. Always.
