Richard “Rick” Borkowski

Richard “Rick” Borkowski (1951 – 2024) was a hardworking, dedicated, strong, and humble man who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 15, 1951, to Ted & Marie Borkowski, Rick spent his early years in Maple Heights, Ohio, cultivating his passion for all things outdoors, developing his strong work ethic, commitment to family, and passion for helping others. Rick especially cherished his experiences and adventures at Tinkers Creek and Catawba Island. Rick graduated from Maple Heights High School and joined the US Navy, where he served with humility and pride as a US veteran.

Following his service in the US Navy, Rick met his wife, Veronica Borkowski, and relocated to Detroit, MI, where he embarked on his career as a Teamster, working at the Farmer Jack Warehouse in Detroit for more than 30 years. In addition to his career as a Teamster, Rick also renovated homes and provided assistance to family and friends. Despite his dedication to work, Rick cherished his free time, indulging in his love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, passionate hunter, baseball enthusiast, and enjoyed coaching, playing, and watching his sons play ball. Rick also had a green thumb and found joy in recreational gardening. Throughout his life, Rick shared an enduring love with his wife Veronica, creating countless cherished memories together over their 50-year marriage.

Sadly, Rick passed away on April 25, 2024 and was preceded in death by his loving parents Ted & Marie Borkowski. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Veronica Borkowski; his sons, Mike (wife Meredith) & Dave (wife Jill); his sisters Connie (Holland) and Linda (Radgowski); and his brother Ted. Rick had a strong bond and shared years of joyful memories with his brother-in-law’s (Gary & Dave Koslowski, Scott Dickinson, Jack Radgowski) and sister-in-law’s (Linda Dickinson, Susan DeFrank, Annette Koslowski, Deanne Koslowski Jill Brown, Bev Borkowski).

Rick will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He was a man of integrity, and his memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rick’s honor to the US Department of Veterans Affairs. https://www.cdceportal.va.gov/donate_online/
