Mark Anthony Cummings

Mark Cummings was a person full of life, never knew a stranger and loved Jehovah very much. His favorite hobby was his music and he learned to play the saxophone at an early age, and progressed to a talented musician. He loved to make people laugh, and even if he made them mad, he always seemed to find a way to make amends with those he loved and may have offended over the years.

Mark was one who turned the other cheek, he carried out the principle of (Matthew 5:24,25}, he always asked for forgiveness as the scriptures admonished, and he forgave those who treated him impartially. Like all of us, he cleaned up his life according to Jehovah’s standards, did his best and made his personal dedication to Jehovah on December 11, 2010.

However with his bouts of mental illness, his life was filled with many obstacles and hardships. Despite all that, he tried to faithfully serve Jehovah to the best of his ability. However his mental state began to take a toll over him, and progressed over the past few years from the oncoming dementia, which eventually ended his life’s course on June 16, 2021.

So when you think of Mark Cummings, please think of him as your brother that shared in the ministry with you, not as the person who over the last couple of years succumbed to his illnesses. Know that he hoped, wished and prayed to be “normal”. Yet, he was plagued by this imperfect world and the owner of this world. Pray for his hope of resurrection with full mental capacity in Jehovah’s coming paradise earth. And pray that we are all there to welcome him back and enjoy the company of our dear brother.

Mark was born April 21, 1953 in Alabama, and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Central High School. He had a wealth of family members who are all dedicated and served Jehovah faithfully. His mother and stepfather, Gena & Chester Harding, also his sister Elaine and brother Bill surpassed him in death. He has two surviving sisters, Diana Harding and Denise Herd, and one son, John Mark Cummings, in addition to a host of relatives and close friends .
