Kim Marie Dominguez

Kim Marie Dominguez (Canning,) of Almont, MI passed away in the early morning of Friday January 7th, 2022 as a result of pneumonia. Kim was 64 years old.
Kim was born in Garden City, MI on June 2nd, 1957 to Karen (Bond) Canning and John Ross. Kim was the oldest child and she always prided herself on being the most “well-behaved” of her siblings and loved to remind them.
Kim graduated from Garden City High School and attended Ricks College (Now BYU) of Idaho. She attended West Shore Community College later in life, and became a Certified First Responder.
Kim spent many years working for the State Census, but during her last years in the work-force, she worked as a Home Caregiver for elderly patients. She found her purpose in helping others and providing comfort to ill clients.
Kim was a people person, she loved to make new friends. One of her greatest passions was watching the Detroit Lions play. Another was singing, she would often tell stories of her time in a choir and spent so much time singing to her daughters and granddaughters as she rocked them.
Kim was an avid supporter of the Democratic Party, she donated to them monthly. As a young mother she would take her children to rallies to hand out flyers, volunteer her time to drive voters to the polls and helped to start up a campaign office in Royal Oak, MI for the 2016 election.
Kim was loved by many during her 64 years, she leaves us with so many beautiful memories. She had an incomparable warmth to her, would give you the shirt off your back, a hug, whatever you needed. She will be deeply missed.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Karen Loy (Bond,) and Ronald Edwin Canning.
Kim is survived by her daughters, Kia Dominguez and Kaitlin (Joe Cale) Dominguez, her grand-daughters, Liliana Maclean, Jolene Cale and Luna Maclean, her siblings. Kendra Sparks (Canning,) Ronald (Stacey) Canning, Kelly Canning, Russ (Carolyn) Canning and Randy (Toni) Tuttle and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

There will be no visitation nor viewing. The family will be planning a celebration of life with information forthcoming. Kim will be cremated and her ashes will be spread in two of her favorite places, the ocean and Lake Michigan.

Special thanks to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital’s ICU for caring for Kim during her last days and for bringing her comfort and peace, also to Kim’s sister, Kendra Sparks, for remaining by her side as she passed and offering support to Kia and Kaitlin during this difficult time.

“And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven,
Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way.
And I know eventually we’ll be together,
One sweet day.”
