Sheila Kranz

Sheila Mary, age 82, of Utica, MI passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2016. Loving Mother of Karen, devoted grandmother of Miranda and Jaclyn, and great granddaughter Daisy. She was born on December 30, 1933 to the late Joseph Heaney and Catherine Cavanaugh.

Sheila was born in Canada and later raised in Detroit. She was a proud graduate of Girls Catholic Central in 1952. Sheila was married to the late John Joseph (Jack) Kranz and together, they raised one daughter, Karen, until his untimely death at the age of 42.

As an administrative professional, she dedicated 30 years to General Motors Corporation where she made a number of lifetime friends. After retiring from GM, Sheila then went on to work at Bardon Cablevision in Detroit and after that Kmart Corporation where she again added to the number of friends she made for life. Upon her permanent retirement, Sheila happily spent her time doting on her beloved granddaughters Miranda and Jaclyn and later on, her only grandchild Daisy Mae. She spent countless hours listening to and sharing stories with her closest circle.

Family and friends were Sheila’s passion and delight. In the early days, she and Jack spent time bowling at East Warren Bowling Alley in Detroit. Her interests included everything Irish….music, dancing, the Gaelic League, of which her Father was a member. She enjoyed snow skiing and photography and she later became an avid fan of Boxing.

More recently, she enjoyed attending craft shows and woman’s shows and especially dog shows, which, at the time of her very unexpected death, she had intended to purchase two West Highland White Terrier puppies.

Sheila had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Family will receive guests Tuesday March 29, 2016 at 930a.m. for a memorial mass at 10 a.m. All are welcome at St. Lawrence Church, 44633 Utica Road, Utica, MI. Celebration of life to follow at Enchantment Banquet 46915 Hayes Rd, Shelby Twp, MI 48315. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Family or your favorite charity in Sheila’s name.
