Sharon Belt

Sharon Belt, age 71 of Atlanta, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at her daughter’s home in Ortonville, Michigan, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 27, 1947 in Detroit, the daughter of Joseph Kozub and Mary (Czmyr). She was raised on a farm in New Haven by her father and step mother, Virginia, who her father married after her mother passed away young. She attended New Haven High School where she met and fell in love with her husband of 51 years, Larry Belt. They married in 1968 and soon moved to New Baltimore where they lovingly raised their family.
Sharon is survived by husband Larry, three children Lynn (Rob) Fisher of Ortonville, Jim (Cristine) of New Baltimore, and Lori (Stanley) DeDalis of New Baltimore, six loving grandsons; Christopher, Noah, Steven, Larry, Jonathan, Jacob, and sister Marie Pelot.
She was predeceased in death by her mother Mary (Czmyr), father Joseph, step-mother Virginia, and siblings Thomas Kozub, MaryAnn Spellacy, Dorothy Marlatt, and Joseph Kozub.
Sharon cherished her time as a homemaker when her children were young and returned to work as an Executive Assistant at AJ Etkin (later Skanska) for many years. Upon moving to Atlanta, Michigan in 1998, Sharon worked at Thunder Bay Golf Resort in Hillman, Michigan.
Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She could always be found in the kitchen preparing her famous cookies, jam or nanacicles, cross-stitching gifts for her family and friends, or outside feeding God’s creatures.
The family will be hosting a celebration of Sharon’s life on Saturday, April 13th from 12pm to 8pm at the Anchor Bay Lion’s Club located at 9200 Short Cut Road in Ira Township. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the wishes of the family, the Michigan Humane Society or Hospice of Michigan.
