Patricia Dawn Seigfried

“Cricket”, Patricia Seigfried was born May 28, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan. She was 82 years old. She passed away on May 5, 2021, at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.

She married “Larry”, Gerald Seigfried in 1958 and had three children. They divorced in 1982 and remained good friends until his death.

Her ex-husband, Larry, and Cricket decided to start a new journey moving to California from 1958 and found themselves being adopted by the Vasquez family, whom they loved very dearly, and seven brothers and sisters. They had two children born in Corona, California. They returned home to Michigan in 1964. In 2000, her youngest daughter wanted to move to California, so Cricket went with her and her granddaughter Missy until her final move back home to Michigan in 2016.

In Michigan, she was active in the Women’s Softball league, Duo Bowling team in the 60s, Camping group, CB radio lingo, and a pack leader in the obedience dog show; her happiest memory was when she and her dog “Angus” a Shetland Sheepdog won the championship in Iowa. She was a professional dog trainer and instructor along with her friend. They owned a dog training school business called C – C Dog Training School in Royal Oak, MI back in the 70s. Sadly, it ended in the 1980s due to family separation. She spent ten years as a machine operator working for McDonald’s Molding Textron in New Baltimore and retired after 62, just before she moved back to California in 2000.

In California, she volunteered in PTA for Quail Valley Elementary School in Palmdale, a Box Top coordinator for Education and Shopping 4 Students. She enjoyed spending time with the students and school events. She attended several churches in the Antelope Valley Community. She sponsored a group home for men. She was a voice coach for contestants. She has donated to St. Jude Children Research, American Indians, and Animal Charities. She also sponsored Pageants.

She’s survived by her two daughters, Mary Peters and April Seigfried. Four grandchildren, Amber, Nicole, Nicholas “Nick”, and Melissa, “Missy”. Four great-granddaughters, Mikayla, Felicity, and twins Brooklyn and Kennedy. She also has a surviving sister, Marjorie Ann Shaw. Her first cousin Penny Caudil and several nieces, nephews, and lots of cousins.
She was also survived by her beautiful adopted Vasquez Family which they called her “Pat”, the late Sebastian and Baudelia, her brothers and sisters, Ubelia, the late Roberto (Boy), Joe, Edward, the late Ralph, Darlene, and Andy. Several nieces and nephews.

Cricket or Pat have always loved her family despite their wrongdoing, she has no first or least favorites. She loved all her family equally no matter how they treated her all of these years. She learned to forgive by the grace of God.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry “Duane” Seigfried.

April and Missy would like to honor the memory of Cricket by performing a private cremation. There will be a Memorial at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
