James “Jimmy” Lloyd Jones went to be with the Lord on the evening of December 8, 2019.
He was a lifelong Mount Clemens resident born July 5, 1929. After Graduating from St. Mary’s of Mount Clemens, he married JoAnn Clark. Jimmy served in the United States Army and then went on to start family and become a milkman and beer delivery man. He also enjoyed coaching many fine young men in baseball over the years, which included a trip to the 1977 Mickey Mantle World Series in Austin Texas.
After Retirement, he enjoyed a membership in the Juggle Up Club and was the oldest member in 2019. He played many Euchre games with the AMVets at the American Legion Post number 4 and began bowling in 1946.
You could always count on Jim for a corny joke, and he was dyed in the wool, a true UofM fan win, lose or tie! He also was an avid Tigers fan. He followed all of his grandchildren’s sporting events and their Statistics. To them he was lovingly known as Papa Jones. Not many could recite or do a play-by-play like him, making him known to many as the king of sports trivia.
He enjoyed family time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his children Jeff (Janie) Jones, Kevin (Amy) Jones, Kathy Jones, youngest son Danny Jones, eight grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sisters Barbara Dandurand and Delores Chandra as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life event will be held after the Holidays, in the coming New Year.
