Henriette Elisabeth Gaab (Poth) , Harrison Twp. MI, passed away on the morning of December 28, 2016 at the age of 89. Henriette was born June 3, 1927 in Mainz-Weisenau, Germany to Peter Poth and Anna (Wolf) Poth.
“Henny” was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Joseph. Beloved mother of Claudia Simpson, Cynthia Burt (James), Christine Burney (Kenneth) and the late Hildegard Gaab-Maniura. Cherished Oma to Jessica, Jody, Tessa, Jan, Kirsten, Denis and Annika. Oma-Oma to Noah, Adelaide and Elijah.
After immigrating to the US in 1951, the family settled in Warren, MI. A homemaker, she enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, camping, and travel. She was open to new things and later in life she started working sales at Crowley’s in the Fur Department, and then in travel. Anyone who knew Henny knew what a kindhearted soul she was. She thought nothing of helping out family, and friends. In 1987 she and Joseph moved to Harrison Twp. to help care for her elderly mother, and settled into their final home. She and Joseph enjoyed traveling in their Golden Years to Germany as many time as they could, as well as to various points in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Henny loved her friends and family, enjoyed a good party, entertaining and seeing new things. She leaves behind cherished family, stories, and memories to keep her always in our hearts.
