Greg, age 78, died peacefully on January 25 2019 after a very full life. He attended Notre Dame High School and entered the Detroit Police Academy, after which he was a police officer and electrician for many years. He married his wife, Shirlean, in 1962 and fathered six children whom he loved beyond words. Greg showed great passion and humor in all that he did.
He is survived by his former wife Shirlean (nee Pawlowski) and his six children: Mark, Mary Anita (Eddie), Sheri (Mike), Cindy, Valerie (Jacob), and Teresa as well as his sisters: Sharon, Denise, and Kim. He was affectionately known as Papa and ‘Hey You’ to his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He joins his parents Clarence and Elizabeth (Betty) and his sister Marybeth, who preceded him in death, in peaceful rest.
In addition to being a loving son, father, husband, brother, uncle, friend and so much more, Greg was an avid Harley-Davidson rider, enjoyed all manners of fishing, and spent countless hours with his tools and crafts, repairing, experimenting, creating, and sometimes improving things. He loved the outdoors and cherished time spent camping, traveling, and finally spending much time at his home in Forestville in Michigan’s thumb. Everyone who met him remembers Greg for his wit, humor, and robust personality.
Dad requested that there be no funeral or viewing. Memorial donations may be made to the Detroit Police Officers Association.
