Donald Lee Powell, Sr. died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones in St. Clair Shores, MI on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the age of 73.
Don is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce (Pluff), daughters Dawn (Powell) Lorenger and Michelle (Powell) Schweiger (Mark), son Don Jr. (Judi), grandsons: Brent Schweiger, Luke Schweiger, Troy Lorenger and Alex Lorenger and granddaughter, Samantha Powell. He is also survived by his sister Sandy Shields (Rick).
Don was born on March 21, 1944 in Cambridge, Ohio to Warren and Virginia Irene Powell (Burgess). He enlisted in the United States Army in 1962 at the age of 17 and proudly served during the Alaskan earthquake and the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1967.
A private military memorial service is scheduled for immediate family members in Holly, MI.
